Why Little Bluebird Weaver?
My little weaving house is a converted greenhouse in our garden in North Carolina. I wanted a place to set up my loom, a used 45 inch 4 harness Loomcraft loom, that had been donated to a local school. It was too big and took much time for the students to warp and weave during a limited class so they put it up for sale. It was also too big for my house so we converted our little greenhouse into a studio space for weaving and dreaming of weaving. Because it is a greenhouse it has lots and lots of windows. Great for plants but not so great for heating and cooling. It is very hot in the Summer and pretty darn cool in the Winters but most of the time it is very nice and cozy. And I have found it is a wonderful place to watch the Bluebirds that come to my yard to nest, eat and flit from the holly tree to feeders to the little houses that we have set up all over the yard. We probably have too many. Probably 5 or 6 bluebird houses. Some of them are home to Carolina Chickadees and Carolina Wrens and a Titmouse or two but there are Bluebird families too and all are welcome. We can always put up more houses if we have more boarders looking for a nice new home.

Anyway the bluebirds are star attractions along with several types of woodpeckers, Cardinals, Goldfinches, owls, wild turkeys and tons and tons of hummingbirds that show up each Summer. We also love hummingbirds and get a pretty good crop of them each late Spring through the Fall.

As I sit in my little weaving house dreaming of the next weaving adventure or begin weaving something new I can usually hear a bluebird or two outside. It is always nice to just listen to the sound of the birds. I used to listen to the radio, but the birds are much nicer and much less stressful.
